The 7th International Conference on Smart Learning Environments (ICSLE2023) aims to bring together researchers, practitioners, and policy makers to discuss issues related to the optimization of learning environments to enhance learning. The focus is on the interplay of pedagogy, technology and their fusion towards the advancement of smart learning for sustainable society. The theme for ICSLE2023 is “Smart Learning for Sustainable Society: Emerging Technologies and Applications“. This year the conference will be held at Berkeley Hotel PratunamBangkok, Thailand during 31st Aug – 1st Sep 2023 as a hybrid conference.

All papers must be original and not simultaneously submitted to another journal or conference. Duplicate submissions are not allowed. Papers must be submitted as a single PDF document, via the Easychair system (https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=icsle2023).

The following paper categories are welcome:

  • Experience Reports describing research-based technological implementation for education that worked well and is now recommended to others.
    • Full-length Experience Reports (maximum 10 pages) containing detailed descriptions of research behind the implementation, development, evaluation or other applications.
    • Short Experience Reports (maximum 6 pages) containing brief reports of technologies developed, techniques used or results of research.
  • Research Studies presenting a careful study, with an appropriate use of methodology (e.g., case study, qualitative methods, quasi-experimental, experimental) to support the investigation and stated results. The methodology does not need to be quantitative; it does, however, need to be appropriate to support the claims made by the author.
    • Full-length Research Studies (maximum 10 pages) containing detailed description of the background research, details of methodology used, findings of the study, interpretation of the findings, and resulting recommendations for other researchers/practitioners.
    • Short Research Studies (maximum 6 pages) may focus on small-scale research experiments that may be extensions of author’s previously validated research.
  • Work-in-progress Papers (maximum 4 pages) containing original research frameworks, architectures and implementations, where initial results are available but full validation are not yet done.
  • Reflection Papers (maximum 4 pages) presenting an argument – with rationale and justification – for a different approach or perspective on solving a current educational problem through the use of emerging technology or through innovative use of existing technology.
  • Posters (maximum 4 pages) briefly explaining the idea of your research and argue its novelty. Posters are not intended to provide background research or details of a rigorous experimental study. They provide opportunity to sell your ideas to the audience.

A prepared manuscript must be submitted as a single PDF document, strictly conform to Springer’s Lecture Notes in Educational Technology (LNET) template/style, and should not exceed 10 pages for full-length papers, 6 pages for short-length papers, and 4 pages for work-in-progress, reflection papers or posters.

Each submitted paper will be carefully reviewed based on originality, significance, technical soundness, and clarity of exposition.

Layout and Templates

Springer provides templates for Word and Latex users that help structure the manuscript. You can download the template from the following links:

For more details and instructions, please check Springer’s Website on Manuscript Preparation.

ICSLE2023 proceedings will be published in Lecture Notes in Educational Technology (LNET) series by Springer.

Extended versions of selected accepted papers will be considered for publication in Springer’s Smart Learning Environments Journal, which is indexed by SCOPUS, and also ranked in the top quartile (Q1) of the Scimago Journal Rank (SJR) and Emerging Sources Citation Index.

Each accepted paper must register and be presented at the conference by one of the authors in order to have the paper published in the LNET proceedings. To enable fruitful discussion and to further stimulate possible collaboration and networking among the participants, on-site participation in Bangkok, Thailand, is encouraged. However, we provide an online/hybrid mode of participation for flexibility.

*** Free Registration for All Presenters and Participants

To support wider participants to present and attend ICSLE2023 on site in person, the organizing committee of the conference is pleased to announce that the conference will be sponsored by ThaiCyberU (TCU), Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI), Thailand. Thus, participation in the conference will be free of charge, for both on-site and online participants.

The conference will be held in Bangkok, Thailand.
